ACSP/GPEIG Gill-Chin Lim Award for the Best Dissertation on International Planning

This award recognizes superior scholarship in a doctoral dissertation completed by a student enrolled in an ACSP-member school. This award provides cash grant of $1,000.

ACSP/GPEIG Gill-Chin Lim Student Travel Awards

Two students with an accepted paper to present at the ACSP Annual Conference, with a focus on an international development/global planning topic or with a special focus on low-income countries of the global south, are eligible for an award of $500 USD intended to defray travel expenses. Those selected for one of these travel awards will also receive waived conference registration.

Best Student Paper in International Planning

This award recognizes the best student paper on international planning presented at the previous annual conference of the ACSP. a paper contributing to advancing our understanding of global planning issues will be considered for the award.

Outstanding Service to GPEIG Award

Launched in 2016, this award is presented in even number years and recognizes an individual/faculty member whose exceptional service, practice, scholarship, and/or leadership has had a lasting and positive impact on GPEIG's mission and/or the strengthening of the institution.

Nomination Process 

  • Nominations may come from faculty or administrators at ACSP member schools.
  • Nominations should consist of two letters, at least one of which should be from individuals not within the nominee's own institution. The letters should that state the ways in which the nominee has, through her or his service, contributed to the strengthening of GPEIG's mission.

Student Case Study Competition

This award is meant to promote students' pursuit of the case study method as a research tool in international development planning, which will better inform the American planning fraternity of the richness of research contexts globally.

Best Faculty Paper Award

This award was introduced in 2017 and honors an outstanding recent journal article on planning and development issues in global context.

Mission

The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning promotes education, research, service and outreach in the United States and throughout the world by seeking to:

  • recognize diverse needs and interests in planning;
  • improve and enhance the accreditation process, and;
  • strengthen the role of planning education in colleges and universities through publications, conferences, and community engagement;
