Help Us Create the New Values Statement

We are very pleased to invite your contributions to ACSP's new values statement. While ACSP has a mission, we have not previously created an expression of our values. In the spirit of good planning practice, we have created an engagement process that encourages members to share their input on the values that should define our organization and the ways that we can collaborate to advance these values through our work.

Step One - Focus Groups

Thanks to the work of two task forces, we are hosting online focus groups to gather input from ACSP faculty and students. Focus groups will be scheduled between May 18 and June 6. The specific dates and times are listed below. Additional dates will be added as necessary to accommodate interest in participating.

When complete, the ACSP statement will express the values that define our organization and our work as educators and researchers. We hope that the values statement can provide a point of reference to inform statements by our organization on key issues impacting urban and regional planning education and research, as well as provide a foundation for ACSP's efforts to support our individual and school members. We look forward to hearing from you!

The Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning promotes education, research, service and outreach in the United States and throughout the world by seeking to:

  • recognize diverse needs and interests in planning;
  • improve and enhance the accreditation process, and;
  • strengthen the role of planning education in colleges and universities through publications, conferences, and community engagement;
  • extend planning beyond the classroom into the world of practice.
