The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Jackson State University seeks to make two appointments for the 2013 fall semester. The two appointments will be at the rank of assistant professor on a tenure track at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers Masters and Doctorate degree programs with concentrations in Community Development and Housing, Urban Design, and Environment and Land Use. Applications for the graduate level position are welcome from persons with substantive research and teaching interests in one or more units under our three areas of concentration. The preferred candidates are expected to demonstrate potentials for teaching and research excellence, including a record of substantive research agenda and the ability to generate externally funded research. We are interested in someone who can teach across curriculum and scholars with expertise in one or more areas of planning importance such as housing, transportation, comprehensive planning, and landscape architecture. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly potential and the ability to teach and advise students at the graduate level is desirable. All candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field. AICP designation is preferred but not required.

For the tenure track undergraduate position at the assistant professor level, we are interested in a generalist and scholars with expertise in one or more areas of planning importance such as housing, transportation, comprehensive planning, and landscape architecture. Demonstrated evidence of scholarly potential and the ability to teach and advise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels are desirable. All candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field. AICP designation is preferred but not required.
