Temple University’s Department of Geography and Urban Studies (GUS) invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor beginning in academic year 2013-14. A Ph.D. in Geography or related field is required by the start of employment. We are looking for individuals who will excel at conducting research and providing graduate and undergraduate instruction in an interdisciplinary department. GUS (http://www.temple.edu/gus) offers two interdisciplinary undergraduate majors in Geography and Urban Studies and Environmental Studies with approximately 250 majors. GUS also offers two graduate programs - an M.A. in Geography and Urban Studies and a Ph.D. in Urban Studies.

The successful candidate will have a focus on food studies, with a strong preference towards individuals who can contribute to the study of food and social inequity; food cultures and security; food systems, sustainability and social justice; or place-based food and health problems. This candidate should have a strong background in social or critical theory and a well defined qualitative methodological framework for research. The successful applicant will also demonstrate a strong potential for funded research.
