The Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota seeks applications to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in public and nonprofit/NGO leadership and management. The successful candidate must have strong and demonstrated teaching, research, and public engagement interests in public and nonprofit management or in directly relevant fields. Areas of particular interest include organizational theory and behavior, cross-sector collaboration and governance, and strategic and operational management. Candidates must be willing and able to contribute in rank-appropriate ways to the school, teach in the school’s core curriculum, provide leadership to its master’s degree programs and proposed Ph.D. program, demonstrate a willingness to help prepare students for careers in public affairs, and function collaboratively in a multi- and inter-disciplinary college, and with external constituencies.

The Humphrey School of Public Affairs inspires, educates, and supports innovative leaders to advance the common good in a diverse world. The school is NASPAA-accredited, highly ranked nationally, and boasts the country’s third-ranked nonprofit management program. The School is widely recognized for its role in examining public issues and shaping public policy at the local, state, national, and international levels, and for providing leadership and management expertise to public and nonprofit organizations.

A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree is required in public policy, public administration, nonprofit management, management, political science, sociology, psychology, anthropology, history, communication, economics, law, urban planning, or related fields with a focus on public and nonprofit management. We seek someone whose approach to teaching and research is innovative and inclusive in terms of race, gender, class and ethnicity. All But Dissertation (ABD) candidates will be considered, contingent upon completion of all doctoral requirements by the beginning date of the appointment.
