Leadership Announcement from ACSP President Marlon Boarnet

Dear ACSP Colleagues:

As many of you have seen via social media, I write to convey the wonderful news that ACSP Vice-President/President-Elect Carissa Slotterback has accepted an appointment as the new Dean of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University Pittsburgh. With deep sadness, I also write to say that the ACSP by-laws only allow faculty members of Full ACSP member programs to serve as members of the Governing Board. The University of Pittsburgh is not a full member program, nor is the school eligible for full member status due to lack of a planning degree.

Carissa’s exceptional leadership and extensive scholarship in planning will continue to benefit the ACSP for the duration of this summer, and hopefully in other ways in the future. In order for ACSP to move forward, in accordance with our bylaws, we will hold an election to fill the remainder of her term as VP/President-Elect through October of 2021, which then automatically transitions into the president’s seat for 2021-2023. Look for a call for nominations and self-nominations very soon.

All the best,

ACSP President
Marlon Boarnet, University of Southern California
