Typical Registration Mistakes

Q Is the abstract submission fee deducted from the registration fee?
A No! The abstract submission fee is a fee for the service of processing the 1000+ abstracts we collect via the on-line abstract submission process. Before the year 2000, the ACSP used to return the $25 fee as a deduction from the registration fee — not since then.

Q Do I need to register for the Awards Lunch?
A Yes, tickets for the Awards Lunch are sold separately.

Q Do I need to register for the Welcome Reception?
A Yes, tickets for the Welcome Reception are sold separately.

 

Typical Questions from Everyone

Q Is it necessary to be an ACSP member to attend the conference?
A No. Come all! The system will prompt you to sign-in as a member, but if you're not just create an account to be put on our list serve for future conference messages.

Q How do I get a receipt for my registration fees?
A The on-line registration system will automatically email you a receipt/confirmation of your registration. If you have an account, log-in and you can find your payment activity in your profile.

Q How do I reserve a data projector?
A Data projectors are pre-set in every session room. However, you must bring your own laptop computer.

Q What if I don't have a laptop?
A Ask to borrow one from one of the other very friendly folks in your conference session and bring your presentation on a removable storage device.

Q What do I do if I lose my event tickets?
A The ACSP Registration desk has record of your paid registration. They will put your name on a list and you will need to personally check with the attendant at the door of the event to let them know of your arrival.

 

Typical Questions from Faculty/Department Administrators

Q I'm faculty and I am presenting a paper, but am only here at the conference for one day. Is there a one-day rate?
A No. Faculty pay the full faculty registration fee regardless of length of stay.

Q Is there a private place where I can conduct job interviews?
A Let the ACSP staff know in advance that you plan to conduct interviews. They can help you secure space.

Q I'm retired faculty. Which registration do I pay?
A There is a discounted Retired Faculty registration rate on the registration form.

Q How to I get AICP Credit for sessions I attended at the conference?
A The Association pre-registers conference sessions with the AICP using the preliminary conference program. Sessions pre-approved will be indicated in the preliminary and on-site program. After the conference, the ACSP must formally submit all the sessions once again to the AICP. With final approval, the ACSP will publish availability of credits using the member list serve. Attendees then use their own access to the AICP system to register for credit.

 

Typical Questions from Students

Q I'm not yet faculty at a university, but have graduated and am no longer a student. Can I have the student fee?
A Yes.

Q I'm a student and am hoping to work for the ACSP for free registration. Is this opportunity available?
A Only students from the Local Host university are eligible for this option.

Q Is there less expensive housing available?
A Likely in good-sized cities there is other housing available to meet your needs, however we must encourage all attendees to stay at the host hotel to meet the organization's contractual obligation to the host hotel.

Q Is there a place to post my vitae?
A Yes, all listings posted to the ACSP Career Center will be available through the conference app.

Q Can students go to the Awards Luncheon on Saturday if there are empty seats in the room?
A The ACSP manages the luncheon with an RSVP system, so unfortunately, without a ticket there is no entry.

Q Is there assistance provided for student travel?
A Different kinds of awards are detailed at www.acsp.org. Some are paper awards which include full student registration fees as part of the award, others are strictly travel awards. Review the site for applicable deadlines.
