Summary of Minutes

The Executive Committee:
bulletApproved the minutes of the ACSP Executive Committee Meeting in San Diego, California, April 5, 1997;
bulletApproved the Bursar's report;
bulletAppointed Elise Bright, University of Texas at Arlington, to the Board as the South Central representative and Tom Clark, University of Colorado at Denver, to the Board as Western District representative;
bulletAccepted money from MIT and Cornell University to formally establish the Don Schon and Barclay Jones student awards;
bulletApproved a Memorandum of Understanding between ACSP and Fannie Mae Foundation and a general policy regarding support from external organizations;
bulletAccepted, with thanks, Georgia Tech's offer to serve as local conference host for the 2000 ACSP conference in Atlanta;
bulletAccepted the need for ACSP to annually survey Planning Programs in order to develop a record of institutional data;
bulletAccepted the Checkoway report on Applied Scholarship and expressed thanks to Barry Checkoway and his committee for their work;
bulletApproved the development a Ph.D. webpage, linked to the ACSP website at Georgia Tech subject to both further monitoring and ACSP policies regarding publications and communications;
bulletAccepted new procedural requirements for educator applications to the PAB visitor site pool; and
bulletExpressed thanks to Dowell Myers and the members of the Strategic Marketing Committee for their efforts.

Future considerations
bulletEvaluation of conference organizers and new conference arrangements.
bulletProposals for a World Planning Congress in 2001 in Shanghai and Sydney.
bulletACSP elections forthcoming in the spring.
