The Graduate School of Planning of the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus is seeking to fill two (2) full time tenure track faculty positions, beginning in January 2015.

Requirements: PhD in Planning; other doctoral degrees in planning related fields from internationally recognized universities will be considered. All candidates should be bilingual in English and Spanish, and have professional and research experience in one or more of the following areas of expertise: 1) Planning for sustainable development, including long-term comprehensive development and futures studies; 2) Environmental and natural resources planning, including areas related to resource management and policy, sustainability and sustainable communities, urban political ecology, water resources planning, environmental governance, climate change and energy policy; 3) Regional Planning, including infrastructure and sustainable land use planning; and, 4) Social policy planning and programming in one or more of the following sectors: communities, health, social vulnerability and risk, and public welfare.

Responsibilities: Candidates will also take a leadership role in the development of new interdisciplinary doctoral programs, and demonstrate adequate skills in the use of geographic information and other software in the management of social, economic and environmental data. Teaching duties include graduate courses and workshops in their area of expertise, as well as core theory and planning technique courses. Candidates will be expected to conduct research in their area of specialization, seek external funding, and maintain a presence in public policy issues pertaining to the mission of the Graduate School of Planning.
