POSITION: Probationary; Nine Month Appointment*

DATE OF APPOINTMENT: August 18, 2014

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach core urban studies courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. (i.e. grant writing, urban finance, organizational environment, fiscal management, project management, community development, administrative services etc.)
  • Support specialized instruction in two or more of the areas including quantitative methods, urban finance, organizational environment, administrative services, grants, economic development, online learning, cultural diversity, and/or general education instruction.
  • Develop an applied research program and publication record involving undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Contribute to professional and community organizations.
  • Advise students.
  • Provide service to the department, the community, and the university.
  • Contribute to pedagogical innovation in the delivery of courses.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in Urban Studies or related field; ABD considered; degree must be awarded by August 18, 2014.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience/expertise in local government management.
  • Teaching experience in urban studies core with flexibility in specialized areas.
  • Previous experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis (i.e. SPSS, research methods, statistical methods and technology).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct specialized instruction in two or more specialized areas including quantitative methods and planning, economic development, online learning, cultural diversity, and/or general education instruction.
  • Previous experience with Economic Development, Community Leadership.
  • Demonstrated commitment to active, applied, learning and to developing innovative ways to support learning and student growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop an applied research program and publication record involving undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute in service to the department, the community, and the University.
  • Contribute to extended learning by teaching on-line and through tele-presence.
  • Collegiate teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
