The Department of Urban Planning and Design in the Harvard Graduate School of Design invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor specializing in teaching and research in topics related to professional urban planning in areas such as physical planning, economic development planning, infrastructure, transportation, healthy communities, international development, and environmental planning. We are particularly interested in those who have expertise in how to use geographic information systems (GIS) and other forms of geo-referenced data to analyze and represent urban phenomena, engage the public in planning issues, and/or intervene in diverse urban sites. We seek to appoint an outstanding scholar who will be responsible for developing innovative approaches to teaching and research including various forms of project-based learning. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in planning or a closely related social science field, preferably in addition to a professional degree in urban planning, and should be prepared to teach a wide range of classes related to urban planning issues and methods.
