The MIT Center for Real Estate (CRE) is seeking a senior real estate professional to serve as the Chairperson of the CRE on a part-time basis. As a leading center for real estate, the MIT CRE’s mission is to improve the quality of the built environment and to elevate the real estate profession through education, research and industry outreach. The primary educational component of the CRE is its one-year Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRED) program. The center also conducts approximately six to eight executive education courses annually.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The chairperson’s key role is to enhance and promote the center’s mission and shape strategic initiatives on a local, domestic, and global level. In addition, the chairperson will actively seek to create a platform for multidisciplinary and collaborative relationships within the School of Architecture + Planning, as well as within the MIT community.
The chairperson’s primary responsibilities include: identifying new prospects and maintaining existing relationships with the center’s industry partners; working closely with the center’s Alumni; leveraging his/her professional network to raise the profile of the CRE nationally and internationally; and providing strategic oversight for the center’s Professional Development Institute (PDI), which may include teaching PDI courses. Will work closely with the Director of Career Services to help facilitate our students getting access to our industry resources. S/he may also advise students on thesis work and/or provide career guidance. This position is for a three-year renewable term.
