This peer-selection process is very much in line with the mission of the Consortium of Development Studies (CODS), which was founded by Dr. Gill-Chin Lim in 1982. The Dr. Gill-Chin Lim Global Award Committee members include Dr. Hooshang Amirahmadi (Rutgers U., USA), Dr. Ahmed El-Kholei (Menofia U., Egypt), Dr. Tom Hutton (U. of British Columbia, Canada), Dr. Eun Mee Kim (Ewha Womans U., Korea), Dr. Heike Mayer, (U. of Bern, Switzerland), Dr. Hae Un Rii (Dongguk U., Korea), Dr. Bish Sanyal (MIT, USA), Dr. Victor Savage (National U. of Singapore, Singapore), Dr. Belinda Yuen (World Bank, Washington, D.C.), Mr. Brett Song (President, Consortium on Development Studies, Korea), Dr. Man-Hyung Lee (Chungbuk National U., Korea), and Committee Chair, Dr. Kenneth. E. Corey (Michigan State U., USA). The Award will be given out in memory of Dr. Gill-Chin Lim and in honor of his work on the study of humanistic globalization.
As a distinguished scholar, Dr. Lim mentored numerous doctoral and master students at Princeton University, University of Illinois, and Seoul National University. As a pioneering researcher, Professor Lim authored a dozen books and more than 100 professional articles, plans, and reports. He was Dean and Endowed Professor at Michigan State University, Dean and Distinguished Professor at KDI School of Public Policy and Management, and Co-President of Korea Federation of Environmental Movement.
Nominations must include a nominating cover letter that states the ways in which the nominee has enhanced humanistic globalization. Additionally, nominations should include a curriculum vitae and two letters of support from individuals who are familiar with the nominee's contributions to humanistic globalization. Additional supporting documents may be provided as well, if desired. The Award carries a cash grant of $10,000 supported by Dr. Gill-Chin Lim’s family.
The candidates nominated by individuals and organizations would be evaluated by the Award Committee. The CODS will carry out all the required administrative work. The announcement of the winner is planned to be made by CODS in 2012.
