June 22-24, 2017
Harvard University, Cambridge MA Application deadline: April 1, 2017
The ACSP Committee on Diversity, in collaboration with the ACSP Planners of Color Interest Group, is pleased to announce the 2017 ACSP Junior Faculty of Color workshop to be held at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. If you will be entering your second or third year of the tenure track during 2017, this workshop is for you!
The workshop aims to provide early-career, tenure-track faculty with the skills and knowledge to flourish in the planning professoriate: developing your initial research and publishing agenda, making service and teaching effective, obtaining grants, and planning a long-term career trajectory that will make an impact.
We envision around a dozen junior faculty will participate. The event will involve substantial opportunities for interacting with senior scholars and peers. The workshop focuses on helping you successfully manage your career:
Format & Funding
Led by Professor June Manning Thomas (Michigan) and Professor Abel Valenzuela (UCLA), the workshop is hosted by Harvard’s planning program. Six to eight additional senior faculty members, representing a diverse types of member schools, will contribute to discussions about particular topics. In the first workshop, in 2015, additional faculty came from Harvard, MIT, Tufts, U.Mass Boston, Texas Southern University, and Clark.
The workshop will begin in the middle of the first day and end in the middle of the third.
Scholars will need to find funding to travel to Boston but those accepted for the workshop will receive 2 nights of accommodation, breakfasts, lunches, and breaks during the workshop. Please apply even if you do not have travel funding confirmed as there may be some modest travel support.
If you are a tenure-track Assistant Professor in an ACSP member school, we encourage you to apply. Faculty entering the second and third year of their tenure track during 2017 will receive preference. Faculty members from groups that are under-represented on planning faculties are particularly encouraged to attend.*
To apply, please email Janessa Mulepati (firstname.lastname@example.org) and include:
- Your name, current mail and email address, telephone number, and institutional affiliation
- Your curriculum vitae
- A 1-3 page draft of your research agenda
Early applications are encouraged to guarantee consideration. The deadline for applying is April 1, 2017.
