Citizen Review Panels (CRPs) are mechanisms for public participation, mandated by federal statute, to review the policies, procedures, and practices of state and local child protective services (CPS) systems. There are more than 340 panels across the country.
The 16th National Conference in Anchorage, Alaska, will bring together volunteer CRP members, CRP staff, CPS staff, researchers in child protection, and many practitioners from many other allied fields. The theme of the conference:Citizen participation in child protection: Common goals, many paths. The conference focuses on ways and means to design and implement public participation in child protection, and associated challenges. CRPs straddle the common ground between child protection, volunteering, and human service administration. Interdisciplinary focus is highly encouraged.
