For Planning Programs

There are three ways that planning programs can join ACSP: Full Membership, Affiliate Membership, or Corresponding Membership.

Full Membership: Full Membership is open to any 501(c)3 or similar U.S. academic unit that offers a degree or degrees in planning. Full Member programs have a vote in the governance of ACSP matters. Full member faculty can hold elective office and attend all ACSP business meetings. Planning program faculty in a full member department can receive subscriptions to the Journal of Planning Education and Research and the Association’s newsletter UPDATE. In addition, all member departments may appear in the Guide to Planning Programs and they may post job announcements and other appropriate information on the ACSP website and in UPDATE.

Cost: $350 USD annual base dues; $50 USD per full-time faculty member.

Affiliate and Corresponding Membership:
Affiliate Membership is open to any academic unit that has a clear interest in planning, but does not offer a degree in planning. Faculty and students of Affiliate member units may serve on and chair committees but may not vote or hold offices. 

Corresponding Membership is open to any non-U.S. academic unit that offers a degree in planning. Faculty and students of Corresponding member units may serve on committees but may not vote or hold offices.

Participation in meetings of the Association is open to all faculty and students of Affiliate and Corresponding member units. Faculty and students in all member departments receive UPDATE and they are eligible for most ACSP awards, scholarships and prizes. In addition, all member departments may appear in the Guide to Planning Programs and they may post job announcements and other appropriate information on the ACSP website and in UPDATE.  Affiliate and Corresponding member units may pay fees so that their faculty may receive capitation services including subscription to the Journal of Planning Education and Research and UPDATE.

Cost: $115 USD annual base dues; $50 USD per full-time faculty member.

Individual Membership Categories

For Faculty of Non-Member Schools and Practitioners

Individual membership allows faculty and practitioners not affiliated with an ACSP member program to participate in the full-range of ACSP’s planning education and research activities. Individual members receive conference registration discounts and subscriptions to the Journal of Planning Education and Research and the Association’s newsletter UPDATE.

Cost: $85 USD annually

For Students
Student memberships are an ideal way for students to become acquainted with the planning education and research community. Student members receive a discount on conference registration, subscriptions to the Journal of Planning Education and Research and the Association’s newsletter UPDATE. Students attending ACSP member programs are also eligible for student awards, prizes and scholarships. As a student member, be sure to sign up with the Bowling League – the student list serve for ACSP.

Cost: $35 USD annually

For Retired Faculty
Retired Faculty membership allows faculty near retirement or officially retired and no longer affiliated with an ACSP member program to participate in the full-range of ACSP’s planning education and research activities. Retired members receive conference registration discounts and subscriptions to the Journal of Planning Education and Research and the Association’s newsletter UPDATE.

Cost: $50 USD annually
