Primary research and teaching responsibilities will be in the Urban and Regional Planning Program, however, the potential to crossover to other SPDC disciplines is desirable.

Assistant or Associate Professor in Environmental Planning and Policy
The Department of Planning, Policy, and Design at UC Irvine invites applications from productive scholars whose research addresses economic and fiscal aspects of environmental planning and policy. The topical area of focus is open, but candidates with research interests in the following areas are of particular interest: evaluation of the economic, environmental, and social justice implications of plans and policies, natural resource and environmental hazards management, and climate change and sustainable development policy. The ideal candidate will contribute to environmental dimensions of our planning, policy and urban studies curriculum and be able teach courses in the areas of natural resources management, urban ecology, environmental impacts of urbanization, fiscal policy, and/or economic analysis of policies and plans. The successful candidate for this tenure-track position will have a Ph.D. in Economics, Planning, Policy or a closely-related field. A track record of external funding is desired.
Faculty members in the Department of Planning, Policy, and Design rank in the top ten in scholarly productivity among all U.S. planning programs. SUSPLACE is a Marie Curie Actions Initial Training Network funded by the European Commission that will kick-off October 1, 2015. SUSPLACE aims to train 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESR) in innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to study sustainable place-shaping practices. The ESR will be employed with normal social security coverage by the host institutions mentioned below and will have all benefits provided for in the Marie Skłodowska Curie ITN fellowships regulations, including a highly competitive remuneration, living allowances and mobility expenses.
Formal eligibility criteria
You are eligible as an Early-Stage Researcher (ESR) if you are, at the time of recruitment (i) in possession of a university degree, and (ii) have a maximum of four years of full-time research experience, including any period of research training. This is measured from the date when you obtained the degree which formally entitles you to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the research training is provided. Selection is, thus, based on professional experience in research, not on age. ESRs should not be PhD holders.
Candidates may be of any nationality.
Because the Marie Curie schemes are designed to encourage researcher’s mobility to improve career perspectives, a mobility criterion applies for recruitment: by the time of recruitment, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country where they apply for more than twelve months in the last three years. Short stays, such as holidays, are not included.
We are looking for candidates which have affinity with the topic, are motivated to participate in SUSPLACE and who are interested in participatory research.
The candidate should have proven skills in communication (including writing and presenting) and computer skills, be fluent in English and understand the rules and procedures of Marie Curie Initial Training Networks.
Preferred qualifications for candidates include excellent grades, research talent (as proven by the master thesis, publications, participation in research projects) and personal ambition.
You are required to undertake transnational mobility when taking up a position in the SUSPLACE project. ESRs will follow training in different countries and spend secondments for three months at two academic or non-academic institutes.
An TOEFL or IELTS English language test may be required.
The ESR should start 1-4-2016.

The Department of City and Regional Planning at the University of Pennsylvania School of Design is seeking to make two faculty hires during the 2015-2016 academic year in two of the following three areas:
Application of Advanced Digital Technologies in Planning and Urban Management, including the acquisition, analysis, and visualization of “big data;” and/or the use of social media and other real-time data sources to address contemporary issues and challenges in the built and natural environments.
Community and Economic Development, with a focus on community development strategy and practice; and/or housing policy and development; and/or local and regional economic development theory and practice.
Environmental and Sustainability Planning, with a focus on environmental policy and practice dealing with urban and metropolitan sustainability planning (including issues of climate change, green infrastructure, green development, water resources, and resilience and hazard mitigation planning).

Duties include teaching graduate courses in area of specialization, supervising internships and Master’s research papers, and teaching other courses which contribute to the Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning and to the Undergraduate Major in Urban Studies and Planning.
Candidates should hold at least one academic degree in Planning and must have a Ph.D. in Planning or a closely related discipline from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.
Applicants should have a strong working knowledge of contemporary U.S. planning practice, a commitment to research and publication on planning-related topics, and expertise in any of the following: neighborhood and community development; community-oriented urban design and land use; housing policy and/or environmental planning; legal and institutional aspects of planning; disaster preparedness and/or emergency management. The Department has a Master’s Program (MRP) in Urban and Regional Planning, with over 50 students actively enrolled in courses. The Program is fully accredited by the Planning Accreditation Board and has a strong record of studio projects, planning job placement and the ability to professionally liaise in the surrounding region. In addition, the Department has undergraduate majors in Geography and Globalization Studies as well as an interdisciplinary undergraduate degree in Urban Studies and Planning, and a Master’s Program (MA) in Geography. The Department also has undergraduate and graduate certificate programs in Geographic Information Sciences (GIS), a graduate certificate in Urban Policy, and a GIS track within the Ph.D. Program in Information Science. Assistant Professor, Urban Regional Planning, Tenure Track
The Department of Geography & Environment at Rowan University invites applications for a full-time (10-month) tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning September 1, 2016.
We seek candidates with expertise in urban and regional planning, especially as these intersect with urban geography, environmental issues and sustainable cities. The successful candidate will support our Bachelor’s of Science in Planning degree program and contribute to the Department’s programs in Environmental Studies (BA), Geography (BA), and GIScience (BS).
