The Urban Studies Program at the University of
Washington Tacoma invites
applications for a position in Urban
Sustainability. The successful applicant will assist in the
creation of a proposed undergraduate program in Sustainable Urban
Development and contribute to the existing Urban Studies degree. We seek a
broadly trained urbanist with a Ph.D. (advanced ABD considered) in one of
the social sciences or a planning-related field whose teaching and research
reflect an ability to approach urban sustainability from social, political,
and/or environmental justice perspectives.
This is a full-time,
tenure-track position to begin September 16, 2008 pending budget approval.
The appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level. Teaching
responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses in urban
sustainability. In addition the successful candidate will have the
opportunity to develop courses which complement existing programmatic
strengths.
