The Department of Geography at the
University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure track position
in planning at the rank of Assistant Professor effective July 1, 2008.
The Department is in the process of
changing its name to the Department of Geography & Planning and integrating
its human geography program with the BA in Regional and Urban Planning, a
professional planning program accredited by the Canadian Institute of
Planners (CIP) and the Association of Professional Community Planners of
Saskatchewan.
The successful candidate must have,
or be eligible and willing to apply for, CIP membership. Preference will be
given to candidates who hold a doctorate in Planning or Geography, who can
contribute to one of the Department’s two areas of strength in planning and
human geography, namely, ‘Sustainable Cities & Regions’ and ‘Environment &
Health’, and who have the ability to teach quantitative or qualitative
methods.
The successful candidate will have
responsibilities for undergraduate and graduate student teaching and
supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong
research program that fits within the purview of one of the Department’s two
areas of strength in planning and human geography, and supported by
peer-reviewed funding from sources external to the university (e.g. SSHRC,
CIHR).
