The Department of Geography and Planning invites
applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to
begin in August 2008. The ideal candidate will be a planner with the
ability to teach key program courses in land use planning, transportation
systems planning, urban design, and planning methods. Areas of secondary
interest include facilities planning, environmental planning, and
international comparative and/or development planning. Interest in
community outreach, internships, and hands-on studio based instruction would
be a plus. We seek a planner with a strong orientation towards applied
research. The successful candidate is expected to pursue an active program
of scholarly research, publication, and external grant funding. Preference
will be given to candidates with prior university-level teaching,
professional planning experience, and scholarly publications. A Ph.D. in

strengths in geographical and planning methodologies, cartography and GIS,
urban/regional planning, and human and regional geography. We offer
master’s and bachelor’s degrees in planning, geography, and geographic
information sciences.
