Department of Geography and Urban Studies

Lecturer in Geography and Urban Studies

Temple University’s Department of Geography and Urban Studies (GUS) invites applications for the position of Lecturer.  This is a renewable position, with the initial appointment for academic year 2008-09.  PhD in Geography, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources, or a related field is expected to be completed by the start of employment.  The successful candidate will have an active role in Temple’s Environmental Studies Program (www.temple.edu/env-stud), which is closely linked with GUS (www.temple.edu/gus) and several other departments in the social and natural sciences.  S/he should be comfortable with interdisciplinary approaches to environmental problems and should be able to teach introductory level environmental courses, as well as upper level courses in his or her area of specialty.  Areas of interest are open, but should include at least some of the following: resource management, hazards geography, urban environmental issues, GIS, political ecology, critical approaches to environmental studies, biogeography.
