The Department of Urban and
Regional Planning at Jackson State University seeks two full-time
tenured-tract professors for the 2008 fall semester. One appointment will be
at the senior tenure eligible level. The Department of Urban and Regional
Planning offers Masters and Doctorate degree programs with concentrations in
Community Development and Housing, Urban Design, and Environment and Land
Use. The Department also offers the undergraduate program in Urban Studies.

The appointments will be in
the following areas: one in urban design and one in any of the relevant
planning concentrations, including housing, transportation, comprehensive
planning, and landscape architecture. For the tenure track position at the
assistant professor level, we are interested in scholars who can demonstrate
evidence of scholarly potential and the ability to teach and advise students
at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The senior candidates are expected
to demonstrate teaching and research excellence, including a record of
publication recognized nationally, a record of managing significant
externally funded research and experience with the supervision of graduate
students. All candidates should possess a Ph.D.
in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field.
