Director of the City and Regional Planning Program


The College of Architecture of the Georgia Institute of Technology
invites applications for the position of Director of the College's City
and Regional Planning Program.  

Founded in 1951, the Graduate City and Regional Planning Program at
Georgia Tech has approximately 90 students and ten full-time faculty,
along with affiliated faculty from the practicing community.  In
addition to the Master of City and Regional Planning degree, the Program
currently enrolls fifteen Ph.D. students and offers dual degrees with
Architecture, Transportation Engineering, Public Policy, and Law. The
program also enjoys a lead relationship with the Georgia Tech Center for
Geographic Information Systems and the Center for Quality Growth and
Regional Development and has strong linkages to environmental
engineering, real estate development, urban design, and public policy. 

The Director will provide leadership for the intellectual, creative and
scholarly endeavors of the City and Regional Planning Program; for
program administration; for enhancement of its externally-funded
research program and its relationships with government and industry in
the area of urban and regional development and revitalization; and for
coordination of the program's instructional, research and outreach
missions.  The Director will provide vision and leadership in furthering
the linkages of the City and Regional Planning Program to the new
strategic directions of the College and the Institute.  Candidates must
have a terminal degree in City and Regional Planning or related field.
Significant experience in academic or research administration is
desirable.  Candidates should have an active and distinguished record of
research and scholarship.  The salary will be competitive and
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
