FWIG Resume Book

FWIG Resume Book 2009 - Just released [October 26, 2009]

ARE YOU A WOMAN SEEKING A TEACHING POSITION IN PLANNING?

DEADLINE: Watch for submission requests again at the end of next summer!

The Faculty Women's Interest Group (FWIG) of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP) annually prepares and posts on the ACSP website a compilation of the two-page abbreviated resumes of women seeking tenure-earning teaching positions in Planning and related programs in North America. This booklet is widely used by Planning Departments conducting faculty searches; many people who appeared in previous editions are convinced that it played an important role in their successful job search.

Most resumes are from those with an earned PhD in Planning or in a related field who are just starting their teaching careers; you may include yourself if you already have a teaching position and are considering a move OR if you're ABD and almost ready. We occasionally include those with Masters degrees and practicing planners who hope to teach.

If you'd like your two page resume to appear in the 2009 publication, please send a PDF version as an attachment to an email to the address below; we cannot accept any other format. Please note that WORD (and other word processing) files do not always convert perfectly to PDF’s; please check to make sure that your formatting hasn’t changed nor extended beyond two pages.

Do not send more than two pages; each page should have at least one-inch margins and use at least 12 point type. Do NOT paginate the resume; do NOT use footers (you may use headers). If you send more than 2 pages, we'll only use the first two. If you violate these few formatting rules we may not be able to use your resume in the booklet.

We suggest that you:

  • print your NAME in all caps at the top - not "resume" or "vitae"
  • consider what the two pages look like - your strengths should jump right out
  • think about what the two pages say about you - the things of which you’re most proud should be obvious

Please review the 2008 resume booklet on the ACSP website for guidance on potential formats and substantive materials that you may wish to highlight or include. In your “cover” email, please suggest TWO (and only two) “interest” areas, as shown in the 2008 book, under which you’d like your resume to be categorized. It is unlikely that we will add new substantive interest areas nor use any highly specialized interest areas individuals might supply.

Please send the PDF of your two page abbreviated resume to: Sandi Rosenbloom rosenblo@u.Arizona.edu
