Planners of Color Interest Group Travel Scholarships

The Planners of Color Interest Group provides three $400 travel scholarships for underrepresented minority doctoral students to attend the annual ASCP conference. The conference is an important venue for students to meet other students, planning faculty, and attend conference activities such as panels, workshops, business meetings, and receptions. The scholarship’s purpose fits with the larger POCIG goal to support and mentor minority doctoral students as they can complete their degrees and increase the number of planning faculty of color. Eligible applicants are those who are:

  • Presenting an ACSP conference paper;
  • Required to travel more than 100 miles to attend the conference;
  • Involved in research about planning issues of pressing concern to communities of color, and
  • Currently attending an ACSP member school.

Applicants must submit:

  • Completed application;
  • Current vita; and
  • Statement of research that must reflect the POCIG mission “to advance the interests and concerns of people and communities of color within the planning academy and profession.” The statement should be no more than 300 words in length.

Submission Deadline: June 30, 2015

Applications should be sent via email to Sigmund Shipp: sshipp@hunter.cuny.edu
