RFP for PhD Workshop
By Lew Hopkins
Chair, ACSP Committee on Doctoral Programs
|
The ACSP Committee on Doctoral Programs invites
proposals to host the ACSP summer 2008 PhD student workshop. The intent of
these workshops is to work with a small group of advanced PhD students in
framing and refining their dissertation research proposals. The University
of Illinois at Chicago, with assistance form University of Illinois, Urbana,
hosted the summer 2007 workshop. Attached as examples are the report of the
2006 workshop hosted by University of California, Irvine. the announcement
for the 2007 workshop, the proposal letter for the 2007 workshop, and the
proposed budget for the 2007 workshop.
If you are interested in hosting the summer 2008 workshop, please contact me
promptly and begin preparing a proposal. We will need to have all proposals
by October 1 at the latest, but please let me know by September 14
if you intend to submit a proposal. We usually receive only one or two
proposals each year.
One idea for the 2008 workshop is to schedule it just before or just after
the joint ACSP/AESOP meeting, which is in Chicago in July, and attract a mix
of European and North American students. Other innovations are also
welcome. I will be happy to discuss ideas you might have.
